Extraneous Matter Testing and Filth Analysis are specialized areas that require the proper
training and experience. Central Hudson Lab specializes in the analysis of food products for the detection
of extraneous matter and filth.
Our involvement is multi-fold. We offer:
- Extraneous Matter Profile Analysis
- filth (insect, rodent, and bird contamination)
- heavy filth (as sand)
- ferrous non-ferrous metal fragments
- Sanitation Inspections
- Workshops to train your analyst in micro-entomology.
The extraneous matter found in a product gives the sanitation history of the product including the
ingredients. Stored product pests can be identified. Contamination by insects and rodents can be
determined to be pre-processing or post-processing. The liability in many cases can be determined.
